Transportation in Shillong

Shillong is well connected by railways and roadways with the major cities in the northeast. The Umroi airport is located about 35 km from Shillong. Presently Air India operates on these routes.  There are direct flights from Shillong to Kolkata, Jorhat, Guwahati.

Shillong is well connected by two major highways NH40 that connects Guwahati to Shillong and NH 44 connecting Tripura and Mizoram that passes through Shillong.  Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) bus facilities are available from Guwahati and adjoining areas.

Shillong also have local taxi service within the city.  The taxis are always shared and the rates vary from Rs 5/- to Rs 15/-.
